Complete Cambodia | Building a Future, Free of the Past

We recently began working with Steve Pennington from Complete Cambodia.  We’ve never met a more passionate individual . . . a man who is trying to make a difference.  During the Vietnam War massive amounts of bombs were dropped in Cambodia. They are still going off today, killing innocent Cambodians more than 30 years after the Vietnam War.  Complete Cambodia’s mission is to remove those mines from Cambodia by building awareness for this cause.

To build awareness, Steve has asked us to build a website designed to accept donations and by holding fundraising events. He already has plans for a benefit concert at a later date.  Steve is also headed to Cambodia on September 18 to assist in removing land mines.  Here is what Steve had to say about his mission for Complete Cambodia:

I have been inspired to take action in raising the awareness level, as well as fundraising for what is occurring in Cambodia as a result of America’s actions during the Vietnam war. From the years of 1964 through 1973 over 2 million tons of ordnance were dropped by United States bombers over Cambodia.

Presently, men, woman and children are being injured and killed by land mines and unexploded bombs. At a rate of almost 1 per day.

Cambodia is by far the most bombed area on the planet to date, and because of that their economy is handcuffed. Land can’t be developed for building roads and schools, as well as farmed. It’s crippling a society. The children seem to be the most affected as they tend to think the land mines are toys, and when they pick them up, they obviously explode.

If the organizations that are there don’t continue to get funding and a dialog in this country is not created, casualties of the Vietnam war will continue to occur. The people of Cambodia will never have the ability to thrive as a society and will constantly be living in the face of fear.

By creating awareness and doing the fundraising, the people of this amazing country will finally be able to take ownership of their land. They will be able to walk anywhere without the fear of being injured from a land mine or bomb. They will have the ability to build and farm on land that they have not been able to because it WILL be safe to do so. Most of all, as a society, they will start to get complete with something that we as being on the outside, consider history.

My intentions are to host a benefit concert to not only fundraise, but to generate more recognition towards this cause. Any help is greatly appreciated on raising the awareness of the Complete Cambodia project.

Thank you,

Steve Pennington

David Kramer Recommends Welborn Social Media | Senior Vice President at Los Serranos Country Club

The owner of Welborn Social Media and the founder of The Tutoring Solution. My goal is to help business owners share the passion they have for their business with as many potential customers as possible.By helping passionate people achieve their dreams I am helping to create a society of passionate leaders that will help inspire others to make their dreams a reality.

David Kramer recommends Welborn Social Media – We began working for Los Serranos Country Club in July, 2008 and have helped foster a thriving online community for golfers who play golf in Southern California and at Los Serranos.  With over 2,500 Facebook fans, over 5,500 Twitter followers, over 100 YouTube videos and over 300 blog posts we have established and maintained an active and vibrant online community.

When I announced my presentation at the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce entitled, “How Social Media Can Benefit Any Business,” David Kramer, Senior Vice President at Los Serranos Country Club had these words of encouragement for me:

“We’re in a communications economy where story telling i.e. subjective narrative brings educational value i.e. that has transformational value. Transformation towards health, happiness, easiness and orderliness on all levels of life.  If that value is missing from what a business performs then what is the point?   Certainly not just money$$.

Social media is a reflection of advanced artistry and brain functioning. It’s a vehicle that expands the territory of influence.  It makes everyone more effective and affluent in what they know and how they learn to know.”

David Kramer recommends Welborn Social Media and Los Serranos Country Club has seen the benefits of a thriving online community through the use of social media.  His statements regarding the impact social media can have on any business is simple, yet profound.  We are living in a communications economy, our collective knowledge is growing and those who have the passion to achieve their dreams have a far greater ability to do so than ever before.

Thank you David Kramer for all your encouragement and support . . . it is an absolute pleasure to work for Los Serranos Country Club.

Los Serranos Country Club is located in Chino Hills, CA.  For Southern California golf there is no greater golfing destination.  Please check out the Los Serranos Blog Page, the Los Serranos Facebook Page and the Los Serranos Twitter Page to see some of our work and to connect with Los Serranos Golf & Country Club.

Social Media – Making Dreams Come True

Social Media has the ability to connect people like never before.  An amazing example is a story we covered about friends of ours who used social media to fulfill a childhood dream.  In the article, Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot Uses Twitter to Get Tickets to a Denver Broncos Game, Merriah Wilson, wife of Jimmy Wilson was able to use Twitter to connect with Denver Bronco Lance Ball.  Lance was able to get tickets for Jimmy and Merriah to watch a home game at Mile High Stadium.  His dream came true thanks to social media, Lance Ball and the amazing efforts of his wife, Merriah.

Your Ideal Customer

Locating your ideal customers is beneficial to any business.  In our article, Who’s Your Ideal Customer? we define an ideal customer as someone who loves your product and services AND refers your business to others.  These customers are out there and it’s up to you to not only find them, but to do whatever you can to create ideal customers.  Social media is not only great for identifying your ideal customer but it gives you an opportunity to connect with your customers more frequently, building stronger relationships and increasing the likelihood they will actively refer family and friends to your business.

Ideal Customer vs. Average Customer
Creative Minds and Visions

Working with CMV Clothing

In April, we began working for Creative Minds & Visions, a clothing company based in Brea, CA.  CMV Clothing is based on the principles of harmony – harmony of creativity, harmony of the mind, and harmony of visions.  Creative Minds & Visions are extremely active in the community supporting local artists, musicians and comedians.  They also commit a portion of their sales revenue to charity programs designed to transform the lives of the less fortunate.  Be on the lookout for CMV events being held across California.  Connect with them on the Creative Minds & Visions Facebook page and Twitter page.  “When people are of one mind, they are supported in their purpose and are accepted despite their weaknesses.”

Whenever we meet a potential client we prepare a presentation for them. We share facts and ideas about what Welborn Social Media can do for their business.

Our presentations have been very successful.  Get our five tips for a killer presentation

Upon the completion of our presentation, our potential clients have a basic understanding of social media, how it can benefit their business, and, often times, business owners begin to see the massive potential social media has to offer.

Slide 1 of Our Presentation

Here are some reasons why our presentations are successful:

  • We alter our slide show to suit the business we’re presenting too. This is beneficial for two reasons:  we provide a personalized approach which gives us credibility that we can take their information and use it to communicate using social media, and it gives us on opportunity to delve into the business to better understand the needs of our customers.
  • We use lots of slides. Clicking through more slides during a presentation helps develop a strong, consistent flow of information to our potential customers. Instead of having one slide with a topic and three bullet points it’s much better for the tempo of the presentation to have four slides with very large, easy-to-read font.
  • Conversation is a must.  At the beginning of each presentation we explicitly encourage clients to ask questions.  Throughout the presentation we ask a lot of questions and make sure they are understanding the material we presented to them.  The presentation is less of a presentation and more like a guided conversation . . . our slides help guide the discussion.
  • Our slide show is very cohesive. It has a set color scheme, a few font choices and consistently placed items throughout.
  • While being cohesive we also have worked to make the slides more interesting. We have a lot of charts in our presentation to visually display some of the astounding facts around social media. We realized there were too many bar graphs and they became repetitive. By thinking of more creative ways to visually display information we’ve been able to make our slide show much more interesting.

Keep Slides Interesting

Our presentation is a constant work in progress. We are always trying to improve both the design of the slides and the manner in which we share them.

We love giving our presentation to business owners. By the end they can see the potential for social media in their business. They can imagine the success it can bring. They can visualize the ways it can allow them to share their passion for what they do.  Use our five tips for a killer presentation.

We hashed out a lot of great ideas and filmed three different videos.  Karen finally decided on the Christmas party video and was extremely happy about the final product . . . along with her fans.

WireSpeed Systems chosen as Cisco's SuperFan on Facebook

Cisco’s Facebook Photo

Our client, WireSpeed Systems, is a small hardworking business that sells new and refurbished networking equipment.

Cisco is a multinational corporation and the world’s largest manufacturer of networking equipment.

When we began implementing our Facebook strategy for WireSpeed Systems we followed Cisco closely because our clients work with their products often. With well over 225,000 fans, Cisco has a terrific Facebook presence. Last year they began featuring SuperFans on their Facebook profile. SuperFans are their most active and engaged followers.

On Tuesday Cisco changed their profile image to the one seen here and they posted, “We changed it up this month for the Cisco SuperFan! Instead of an individual, we are highlighting WireSpeed Systems, a company who has been extremely active on our page and has even been sharing our content on their Facebook page as well. Thanks for being such a fabulous Cisco SuperFan, WireSpeed Systems!!”

Obviously our clients are thrilled. We are very excited and proud to get one of our small businesses noticed by the biggest company in their industry. Having the WireSpeed Systems logo alongside the Cisco logo on Cisco’s own Facebook page adds a great deal of credibility and instills trust in WireSpeed Systems.

We’re very fortunate to have such wonderful clients. It makes the job of getting their name out there and recognized by new people so rewarding.

A big Thank You! to Cisco and their Social Media team. Highlighting smaller businesses is such a wonderful thing for a huge corporation to do. Thank you!
